Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools in Washington state seeks a paraeducator for a 1:1 assignment with a non-verbal Kindergarten student. Start date 9/1/2026; 0.8125 FTE, 6.5 hours per day. Requires General Paraeducator Certificate, 28 hours of FCS training within specific timelines.

Requires General Paraeducator Certificate and completion of FCS training within specified timelines.
Experience assisting students with disabilities and delivering instructional support.

Responsibilities

Provide instruction to students individually or in small groups as directed; assist with activities of daily living.
Supervise students during recess and meals; transport as needed.
Record student progress and communicate with teachers and parents.
Assist in adapting materials and implementing therapies; use adaptive equipment.
Attend staff meetings and support classroom management.
Coordinate computer activities and troubleshoot equipment used by students.
Maintain attendance and comply with district policies.
