Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking an Education Support Professional to support a 4th grade student in the LRC program. The role requires completion of the General Paraeducator Certificate and 28 hours of district training within defined timelines.

The position involves direct instructional support, personal care assistance, and collaboration with licensed staff in a 1:1 setting. Includes extensive training and a full benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience assisting students with disabilities or special needs.
• Ability to support elementary students in instructional activities.
• Basic signs of communication or sign language knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students individually or in small groups.
• Assist with activities of daily living and self-care as needed.
• Supervise students during meals, recess, and bus loading.
• Record student progress and communicate with teachers.
• Assist with data collection for IEP goals and behavior plans.
• Modify materials under teacher direction to meet student needs.
• Assist with classroom management and discipline per district guidelines.
• Support field trips and off-site activities as required.
• Participate in department meetings and share student information.
• Utilize adaptive equipment and sign language as needed.
• Maintain attendance and reliability.
• Coordinate computer activities and troubleshoot classroom tech.
