Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a paraeducator to assist a certificated teacher with instructional and personal care needs for students with a broad range of disabilities, including medically fragile or developmental conditions. This 1:1 position supports a 6th grade student; full training for the General Paraeducator Certificate is required, with district training hours and timelines.

Qualifications

Requires Associate degree or 72 college credits and ability to assist in instruction for students with disabilities.
Experience working with special needs is preferred but not required.
CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain is required within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

Provide instruction to students individually or in small groups under teacher guidance.
Assist with daily living activities and personal care needs as required.
Supervise students during recess, lunch, and transportation activities.
Record student progress and communicate with teachers and families as assigned.
Assist in adapting materials and activities for students with disabilities and support field trips or off-site activities.
