Job summary

6 Degrees Search is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract position in San Antonio, TX. The role focuses on oncology diagnostic phlebotomy with a Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00am–5:00pm, for an initial 3-month term with potential for permanent placement.

You will perform blood draws, label and process specimens, and ensure regulatory compliance while delivering courteous patient service.

Qualifications

Valid Phlebotomy certification required in the state of employment.
Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
Explain clearly the venipuncture process to patients and/or other specimen collection procedures.
Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
Fully understand all physicians' orders and match requisition forms to tubes.
Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
Check all requisitions or computer labels for 100% accuracy.
Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures.
Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual trainings.
Answer inquiries by reading laboratory results.
