Job summary

The US Oncology Network's Texas Oncology clinic in Plano, TX is hiring a Patient Benefits Representative. You will educate patients on insurance coverage and benefits, assess financial eligibility, and maintain accurate eligibility records to support the billing process.

Level 1 or Sr depending on experience; you will collaborate with the Radiation and Medical Oncology Departments and adhere to compliance standards while assisting patients with cost estimates and aid programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum three (3) years patient pre-services coordinator or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of CPT coding and HCPCS coding application.
  • Must be able to verbally communicate clearly and utilize the proper terminology.
  • Must complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupying position.

Responsibilities

  • Educate patients on insurance coverage, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket costs.
  • Assess patients' ability to meet expenses and discuss payment arrangements; assist with financial aid sources.
  • Complete reimbursement and liability forms for patient review and signature; forward to billing.
  • Obtain pre-authorization or referral codes from Clinical Reviewer prior to treatment.
  • Review patient balances and coordinate with front desk for collections.
  • Verify and update demographics and insurance coverage at each visit per SOPs.
  • Stay current on financial aid options and build relationships with aid providers.
  • Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA and internal guidelines.
