Job summary

The US Oncology Network's Texas Oncology in Sugarland is seeking a Patient Benefits Representative to educate patients about insurance coverage and benefits, assess financial needs, and assist with eligibility and cost estimates. This full-time role supports the Medical/Surgical/Radiation Oncology Department at the 1350 First Colony Blvd clinic, with typical hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum three years patient pre-services coordinator experience.
• Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
• Knowledge of CPT and HCPCS coding.
• Clear verbal communication and correct terminology.
• Must complete required e-learning within 90 days.
• Senior level: Associates degree in Finance/Business or 4 years revenue cycle experience preferred.
• Senior level: 3 years pre-services coordinator and 2 years patient benefits experience.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients on insurance coverage, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket costs.
• Assess patient financial ability and discuss payment arrangements and assistance programs.
• Update patient insurance eligibility, coverage and benefits in the system.
• Obtain pre-authorization or referral codes prior to treatment.
• Review patient balances and coordinate with front desk for collection.
• Verify demographics and insurance at each visit per SOPs.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA-compliant practices.
• Develop relationships with financial aid providers and seek program leads.
