Job summary

The US Oncology Network, Texas Oncology in Sugarland, TX, is seeking a Patient Benefits Representative for a full-time role supporting the Medical/Surgical/Radiation Oncology Department at 1350 First Colony Blvd. Typical hours are 8:30a–5:00p, Monday to Friday, with a focus on helping patients navigate financial aspects of care.

Level 1 or Senior level is based on candidate experience. Strong attention to accuracy, confidentiality, and teamwork is essential in a high-volume oncology setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum three (3) years pre-services coordinator experience or equivalent.
• Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
• Demonstrate knowledge of CPT coding and HCPCS coding application.
• Must be able to verbally communicate clearly and use correct terminology.
• Must complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupancy.

Responsibilities

• Obtain insurance information and educate patients on coverage, benefits, co-pays, and out-of-pocket expenses.
• Assess patient financial ability and discuss payment arrangements; educate on financial assistance programs.
• Process and update insurance eligibility, coverage and benefits in the system.
• Obtain pre-authorization or referral codes prior to treatment.
• Ensure accuracy of patient co-pays in the system and assist front desk.
• Verify demographics and coverage at each visit per SOPs.
• Maintain relationships with financial aide providers and seek new sources.
• Adhere to HIPAA and confidentiality; maintain manuals and forms.
• Perform additional duties as requested.
