American Oncology Network, Inc. seeks a dedicated Patient Financial Counselor to act as the primary advocate for patients navigating insurance coverage and financial assistance in an oncology practice.

You will review benefits, estimate patient liability, and coordinate pre-authorizations to ensure access to cancer treatment. You will work with clinical teams, insurers, and external aid organizations to remove barriers to care, verify coverage in EMR systems, and provide compassionate support

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of experience in healthcare, preferably in healthcare financial counseling, patient access, or medical billing.
• Experience verifying pre-certification and/or prior authorization with medical insurance.
• Knowledge of patient assistance programs and grant-funded resources.
• Cash handling and monetary collection experience.
• Ability to calculate patient responsibility and insurance co-pays/coinsurance.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Verify insurance benefits and coordinate pre-certifications and authorizations.
• Counsel patients on insurance coverage, out-of-pocket costs, and financial assistance options.
• Maintain patient financial records in EMR and communicate with providers and billing staff.
• Identify aging balances and arrange payment plans.
• Collaborate with external organizations to secure financial aid.
