Job summary

American Oncology Network is hiring to support Heartland Oncology & Hematology with patient financial navigation and counseling. You will verify insurance coverage, estimate patient liability, and coordinate prior authorizations to facilitate access to cancer treatment.

As a key liaison, you will discuss forms, assist applications for financial aid, and maintain compliant, compassionate communication with patients and care teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's Degree or higher in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred.
• Minimum two years in healthcare, preferably in financial counseling, patient access, or medical billing.
• Experience with pre-certification, prior authorization, and insurance verification.
• Familiarity with patient assistance programs and cash handling.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance coverage, authorizations, and coverage management.
• Counsel patients on financial responsibility and available assistance programs.
• Coordinate with providers, insurers, and external aid to remove financial barriers to care.
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant handling of patient information and communicate clearly with care teams.
• Monitor aging balances and arrange payment plans with patients.
