Job summary

Cox Automotive in the United States is seeking a Mobile Diesel Tech II - DOT to perform licensed DOT inspections, preventive maintenance and diagnostics on a mobile fleet. You will travel to job sites, perform repairs and take home the assigned service vehicle, with a Tuesday–Saturday shift from 11am to 8pm.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; 3 years of related field experience, or 5 years alternative experience.
• Must supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
• This role follows DOT/FMCSA regulations and requires DOT pre-employment screening and a DOT medical card if applicable.
• Candidate must be at least 21 and possess a valid driver’s license with a clean MVR.
• DOT physical may be required if the medical card has limited validity remaining.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled PM and DOT inspections on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in mobile/field environment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, braking, cooling, engine and transmission systems.
• Inspect and repair trailer equipment including brakes, air lines, liftgates and chassis.
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs and proper operation.
• Independently manage parts inventory on company service truck and document findings via TRAIT app.
• Adhere to safety, health and environmental policies and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
