Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on‑site inspector to support transportation construction projects across multiple locations, including Raleigh, NC. The role involves direct supervision by senior inspectors and engineers, with travel estimated at 20%–40% to project sites nationwide.

Responsibilities include inspecting traffic and environmental controls, interpreting construction plans, and ensuring adherence to quality control procedures.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
• Basic knowledge of arithmetic.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and quickly learn new applications and programs.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
• Review and recommend acceptance or rejection of daily contractor reports and verify QC procedures.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to contract and measure quantities of materials placed.
• May perform sampling or in‑place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete and asphalt pavement.
