Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site field inspector to support transportation construction projects across multiple locations. You will perform inspections, verify contractor work, and ensure compliance with project specifications and safety requirements.

The role requires travel of 20%–40%, a valid driver's license, and strong written/verbal communication in English. Opportunity to gain real-world experience on diverse projects and contribute to successful project delivery.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
• Basic arithmetic knowledge.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Willingness to learn new computer or smartphone applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
• Review daily reports, inspect contractor quality control procedures and material testing, verify conformance with QC plan.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to contract and measure quantities of materials placed.
• May perform sampling and in-place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt concrete pavement.
