Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on‑site Inspector for transportation construction projects across multiple locations, including Raleigh, NC. You will perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, and materials while working under supervision to ensure quality and compliance.

The role involves reviewing contractor reports and quality control procedures, testing materials, and potentially sampling soils and asphalt. Travel may be required up to 40% of the time.

Qualifications

• Must have strong communication skills in English (verbal and written).
• Basic arithmetic skills are required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to learn new computer/smartphone applications quickly.

Responsibilities

• Inspect traffic control, environmental controls, layout, and materials with direct supervision.
• Review daily contractor reports and QC procedures for conformance with approved plans.
• Review material testing procedures and quantify materials placed.
• May perform sampling and in‑place testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt.
