Job summary

CDM Smith in the United States is seeking an on-site Field Inspector to support transportation construction projects across multiple locations including Raleigh, NC and other sites. You will perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, and construction methods under direct supervision, review contractor reports, and verify quality control procedures are in conformance with the Quality Control Plan.

Travel 20-40% is required.

Qualifications

• English communication (verbal and written).
• Basic arithmetic proficiency required.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn applications quickly.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
• Determine the acceptability of the day‑to‑day work and review contractor reports; verify QA procedures.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to contract requirements.
• May be required to sample and/or perform in‑place testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt.
