Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer to oversee daily operations and maintenance of MEP systems in a commercial property setting.

The role requires 5+ years in building services, with strong HVAC knowledge and the ability to supervise maintenance staff and coordinate with contractors. Proficiency in Outlook and basic IT tools is expected, with on-site duties and potential emergencies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related trade experience in operating mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in a commercial property setting.
• Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC and building systems.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot HVAC systems and identify the root cause of equipment issues.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and life-safety drawings.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Windows File Explorer, cloud-based file storage, and general computer applications.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and respond effectively to emergencies.
• HVAC, electrical, or engineering-related certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily operations and maintenance of MEP systems for assigned buildings.
• Supervise maintenance staff when applicable and monitor activities and projects.
• Perform preventive maintenance duties, including changing filters, lubricating motors, replacing lamps, ballasts and fixtures, inspecting and adjusting belts, and other inspections and maintenance.
• Coordinate maintenance efforts with outside contractors and technicians.
• Maintain stock and inventory control.
• Respond immediately to emergency situations and tenant service requests.
• Review construction drawings to identify potential impacts to base-building systems and operations.
• Provide input on maintenance staff performance during reviews.
