Job summary

Community Housing Innovations, Inc. (CHI) is seeking a full-time Resident Support Specialist for our Smithtown location. You will provide a safe, structured environment for CHI residents and staff, coordinating resident movement and monitoring conduct during rounds.

Responsibilities include screening clients, conducting bag searches, de-escalating crises, completing logs, assisting at the front desk, and supporting fire drills and room turnover. Multitasking and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of experience in a related field preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; English required; Spanish a plus.
• Basic competency in MS Windows, MS Office, and internet usage.

Responsibilities

• Maintain visibility to residents, staff, and visitors by wearing safety gear.
• Screen all clients and visitors entering the facility.
• Perform bag searches upon intake and as required.
• De-escalate potential crisis situations and document interventions.
• Conduct rounds throughout the facility and monitor common areas.
• Complete logs, incident reports, and all required documentation.
• Perform administrative duties at the front desk.
• Monitor video surveillance, fire alarms, and notification systems.
• Assist with room preparation and turnover for new clients.
