Job summary

Community Housing Innovations (CHI) is seeking per diem Resident Support Specialists to support our western Suffolk and Nassau County programs in Commack, NY. You will provide a safe, supervised environment for residents and staff, monitor movement, and ensure compliance with facility policies.

Responsibilities include de-escalation, incident reporting, front desk duties, and coordinating with management. The role offers per diem shifts with a strong commitment to safety and community service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years of related field experience preferred.
• Proficiency in English; bilingual Spanish a plus.
• Basic computer skills in MS Windows and MS Office.
• Physical ability to tour property, walk distances, and climb stairs.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team and stay organized.

Responsibilities

• Maintain visibility to residents, staff, and visitors while on duty.
• Screen clients and visitors entering the facility.
• Perform bag searches at intake and as required.
• De-escalate potential crises and document interventions.
• Complete logs and incident reports.
• Support front desk administrative duties.
