Job summary

FirstEnergy in Ohio seeks an experienced Operations Manager to lead the Substation and UG Network teams across Massillon, Mansfield, Marion and surrounding areas. This full-time, on-site role focuses on safe, reliable electricity delivery while complying with regulatory requirements and budget guidelines.

You will plan, organize, direct, and review regional operations, develop a strong safety culture, manage relationships with peers and unions, and guide staff through emergencies and outages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; or 10 years relevant training/experience.
• 7+ years in electric utility industry; leadership experience.
• Experience administering collective bargaining agreements and HR policies.
• Proven safe operations excellence and people leadership.
• Strong communication and change leadership.

Responsibilities

• Foster safety culture across operations.
• Build relationships with peers, staff and union leadership.
• Implement safety and environmental safeguards in accordance with regulations.
• Participate in goals, priorities, policies, project prioritization and problem resolution.
• Plan, organize, control, integrate and evaluate the work of the operational group.
• Engage with staff to establish milestones and benchmarking measures for safety, reliability and performance.
• Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements and company policies.
• Oversee area budget for personnel, material, equipment, and maintenance.
• Coordinate response efforts and assist in emergency outage restoration.
