Job summary

Rush Truck Centers is seeking an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to support our commercial truck fleet at client sites. You will perform on-site service calls, diagnose issues using diagnostic tools, and perform preventive maintenance in accordance with our standards.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 5 years of Class 7 & 8 technician experience, and relevant certifications (Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, ASE) preferred. CDL is welcome but not required.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and technical ability are required.
• Experience with diagnosing and repairing diesel trucks.
• Ability to communicate with customers and service writers.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Handle maintenance including fueling, oil checks, cleaning, and inspections.
• Manage inventory on the service truck and keep it stocked.
• Report to the Service Manager and perform daily duties.
• Remain available for after-hours service calls and open work schedule.
• Maintain and inventory the tools needed for diesel truck maintenance.
• Read job orders and plan work procedures.
• Use diagnostic equipment and technical information to perform repairs.
• Diagnose and replace major components (injectors, bearings, brakes, transmissions).
• Document work in the company system and ensure accuracy.
• Inspect guards and safety devices and perform adjustments.
• Lubricate moving parts and verify conformance to specs.
• Perform preventative maintenance as requested.
• Document paperwork in the mobile service program.
• Respond to customer inquiries and foster positive relations.
• Advise on repairs to be performed in the near term.
