Job summary

Rush Truck Centers is seeking an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to service customers on-site at their locations, performing diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repairs on heavy-duty trucks and equipment. You will handle service calls with a focus on on-site efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 5+ years in Class 7/8 truck service, and preferred CDL and ASE certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
• Current CDL preferred but not required.
• Medical card as required by the FMVSS.
• Mechanical aptitude and technical ability is a must.
• Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, and ASE certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Handle basic maintenance of the truck including fueling, oil checks, cleaning, and inspections.
• Manage inventory control on the service truck and maintain stocked vehicles.
• Report to the Service Manager and perform daily assigned duties.
• Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and flexible schedule.
• Maintain and inventory tools required for diesel truck maintenance.
• Read job orders and assess vehicle operation to plan work procedures.
• Use diagnostic equipment to determine malfunctions and perform repairs.
• Diagnose, remove, and replace components such as injectors, pistons, bearings, brakes, transmissions.
• Perform diagnostic and documentation functions on the company computer system.
• Check guards, bolts, and safety devices; make adjustments as needed.
• Lubricate moving parts and verify repairs meet specifications.
• Perform preventative maintenance as requested.
• Document and submit paperwork or enter into mobile service program timely.
• Respond to customer inquiries and foster positive relations.
• Advise customers/service writer of repairs needed within the next 3 months.
• Participate in training and apply it on the job.
