Job summary

Rush Enterprises, Inc. seeks a Mobile Diesel Mechanic to support client fleets at their locations and perform on-site service calls. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel equipment with a focus on efficiency and safety.

The role requires 5 years of Class 7/8 experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work after hours. CDL is preferred but not required, and a FMVSB medical card is required where applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
• Current CDL preferred but not required.
• Medical card as required by FMVSB.
• Mechanical aptitude and technical ability is a must.
• Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, ASE certifications are preferred & rewarded.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Basic maintenance of the truck including fueling, oil checks, cleanliness, and ensuring inspections are performed and documented.
• Manage inventory control on service truck and for keeping the vehicle stocked.
• Report to the Service Manager and be assigned daily duties.
• Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and open work schedule.
• Maintain and inventory the supplied tools for diesel engine trucks and related equipment.
• Read job orders and assess vehicle operation to plan procedures.
• Utilize diagnostic equipment to determine malfunctions and proper repair procedures.
• Diagnose, remove and replace injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, bearings, oil pans, clutches, etc.
• Perform diagnostic and documentation functions on company computer system.
• Check guards, bolts, and safety devices; make adjustments.
• Lubricate moving parts and test drive to verify conformity to specs.
• Perform preventative maintenance as requested.
• Document work performed in mobile service program timely.
• Respond to customer inquiries and foster positive relations.
• Advise customers on repairs to be performed within 3 months.
• Participate in training and apply it on the job.
