Job summary

Holland Partner Group in San Jose, CA is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Manager to support daily maintenance operations at a residential community. This full-time, on-site role involves planning, coordinating, and executing inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance on building systems and apartment homes.

You will supervise maintenance staff, assign work orders, coordinate with property management on unit turns, manage vendors and parts, and respond to resident service requests

Qualifications

• Ability to demonstrate strong supervisory skills, including coaching, scheduling, and supporting maintenance team members.
• Proficiency in equipment maintenance and maintenance & repair of building systems, fixtures, and appliances.
• Experience with preventive maintenance programs and maintenance management processes to ensure asset reliability and safety.
• Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
• Strong commitment to safety practices, OSHA regulations, and compliance with local building codes.
• Effective communication and customer service skills with residents, colleagues, and vendors.
• Ability to work on-site, respond to after-hours emergencies as needed, and perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
• Previous experience in multifamily or commercial property maintenance; supervisory or lead maintenance experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications (e.g., HVAC, CPO, EPA) are a plus.

• Supervise maintenance team members, assign work orders, monitor completion, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing daily maintenance tasks including inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance on building systems and apartment homes.
• Coordinate with property management on unit turns, vendor coordination, inventory, and parts management.
• Respond to resident service requests promptly and professionally; maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Support emergency maintenance response and contribute to a clean, well-maintained, resident-focused environment.
