Job summary

Alpha is hiring a Youth Development Coach to work on-site with K-3 students, guiding app-based literacy, running short sessions, and driving daily learning goals.

The role emphasizes diagnostic teaching, narrow planning, and close daily collaboration with students and families, within a full-time on-site campus environment. A six-year-old’s progress is tracked through data-driven decisions and targeted interventions.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years working directly with children ages 4-9 in settings where your presence was the draw—teaching, coaching, tutoring, camps, youth programs, children’s theater, or similar.
• At least 2 years of that experience teaching reading in grades K-3, within the last 5 years.
• Completed structured-literacy training: LETRS, IMSE, Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, Fundations, UFLI, CERI, Neuhaus, SIPPS, Really Great Reading, or similar; or a master's in reading or literacy.
• Bachelor's degree required; teaching certificate not required, work authorization in US

Responsibilities

• Coaching students through app-based core learning, identifying gaps and unblocking progress.
• Running short structured-literacy sessions with small groups, diagnosing decoding gaps, and ensuring transfer of learning.
• Leading morning launch, life-skills workshops, and check-chart activities for daily student movement.
• Driving students to weekly app goals using school currency, leaderboards, and gamification.
• Staying with students through lunch, recess, and closing, developing plans for frustrated or reluctant learners.
