Job summary

Alpha is seeking a dedicated Academic Coach to work on-site with K–3 students, guiding them through app-based core learning and closing reading gaps. You will diagnose decoding gaps, deliver targeted sequences, and monitor transfer with weekly data shared with parents.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years with children aged 4–9, 2+ years coaching reading in K–3, and formal structured-literacy training or a master’s in reading.

Qualifications

• Three years of direct work with 4–9 year olds (teaching, coaching, tutoring, camps, youth programs).
• Two+ years coaching reading in K–3 within the last five years.
• Completed structured-literacy training or master’s in reading or literacy.

Responsibilities

• Coach K–3 students through app-based core learning and close reading gaps.
• Run short literacy sessions with 2–4 students, diagnose gaps, and check transfer.
• Lead morning launch, workshops, and routines for six-year-olds.
• Drive students to weekly app goals using gamification and leaderboards.
• Stay with students through lunch, recess, and closing with a plan for the next steps.
