Job summary

Peraton in Irvine, California seeks an IT Technical Support Technician to join a team supporting the City of Irvine & Police Department. The role is 100% on-site in Irvine with a Monday–Friday, 8-hour workday schedule. Shifts rotate and travel to customer sites is frequent.

Responsibilities include providing second-tier technical support, guiding installation and configuration, and training customers on designated systems. Strong end-user support and ITIL-like practices are valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 3 years of experience.
• U.S. citizenship or Green Card required; able to pass background check and polygraph.
• Excellent customer service and ability to communicate with end users.
• Experience providing technical support and performing technical analysis.
• Strong troubleshooting with basic to intermediate networking knowledge (TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, DHCP).
• Hands-on experience installing, configuring, adapting, and enhancing IT products and systems.
• Proficiency with common software and hardware in enterprise environments.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Experience supporting Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
• Knowledge of Microsoft technologies: AD, Azure AD, Intune, M365.
• Familiar with ITSM tools like ServiceNow, Jira, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Provides expert and second-tier technical support and analysis to field engineers and technicians.
• Provides guidance on installation, adaptation, configuration, or enhancement of technical products, programs, and systems.
• Tests, trains, and supports customers on technical aspects and troubleshoots issues.
• Maintains trouble logs and assists users with computers; assesses information, network, and communications needs.
• Provides training to customers.
• Travel is frequent; work at customer sites.
• Collaborates with developers and engineers to reduce recurring incidents.
• Answers questions on installation, operation, and usage of systems and services.
