Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking a hands-on IT Team Lead in Irvine, CA to oversee daily operations and lead a growing IT support team. This contract-to-hire role emphasizes strong systems knowledge, project coordination, and secure, reliable technology services to enable fast-paced business processes.

You will mentor frontline staff, manage incidents, coordinate upgrades, and help strengthen security while maintaining excellent end-user support across Windows, macOS, AD, and M365 environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 1+ year of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.
• 3+ years of progressive experience in IT support, systems administration, or related roles.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows, macOS, networking, and enterprise IT environments.
• Experience supporting Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and related technologies.
• Proven troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and network issues.
• Understanding of IT security practices and technology governance.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality support.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day IT operations, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests.
• Supervise and support IT technicians, including scheduling, coaching, and performance management.
• Provide escalation support for complex hardware, software, network, and systems issues.
• Monitor system performance and coordinate maintenance, upgrades, backups, and deployments.
• Manage hardware, software, and IT asset inventories.
• Support desktop, mobile device, and enterprise application environments.
• Assist with IT infrastructure projects, including upgrades, migrations, and technology rollouts.
• Help maintain IT security standards, policies, and best practices.
• Support audits, risk assessments, and security initiatives.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and system records.
• Promote a collaborative, service-oriented culture focused on delivering outstanding user support.
