Job summary

JLL is seeking an Operating Engineer to support maintenance and repair operations in a government facilities environment. You will operate, maintain, and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems, coordinating with contractors and responding to facility needs and emergencies.

This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a focus on safety and reliability to keep building occupants safe and operations efficient.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 4+ years of experience in the electrical trade or HVAC/refrigeration trade, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work safely using proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Physical ability to walk, climb, bend, kneel, lift, and perform overhead work regularly.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate and maintain facility systems in compliance with government regulations and safety standards.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems.
• Monitor building equipment performance, record operational data, and make adjustments to maintain optimal efficiency.
• Respond to service requests and emergency maintenance situations in a timely and professional manner.
• Conduct facility inspections, identify potential hazards, and support adherence to safety procedures and protocols.
• Coordinate and oversee work performed by outside contractors to ensure quality and cost expectations are met.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours, weekend, and holiday support as needed.
