Job summary

JLL is hiring an Operating Engineer in Gaithersburg, MD to support government facilities operations. You will operate, maintain, and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems, while coordinating with contractors and handling on-call shifts to ensure safe, reliable facility operations.

The role requires strong troubleshooting and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in the electrical trade or HVAC/refrigeration trade.
• Valid U.S. driver's license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate and maintain facility systems in compliance with government regulations and safety standards.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems.
• Monitor building equipment performance, record operational data, and make adjustments to maintain optimal efficiency.
• Respond to service requests and emergency maintenance situations in a timely and professional manner.
• Conduct facility inspections, identify potential hazards, and support adherence to safety procedures and protocols.
• Coordinate and oversee work performed by outside contractors to ensure quality and cost expectations are met.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours, weekend, and holiday support as needed.
• Additional Duties as assigned by Engineering Management
