Job summary

Electrical Automation Services is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer for Glendale, AZ. You will act as the on-shift controls expert, supporting Tier 1/2 troubleshooting, working with operations, maintenance, engineering, and quality to resolve issues and improve throughput.

You will lead automation projects, mentor technicians, and ensure reliable operation of high-speed beverage equipment including filling, packaging, and conveyors. Shift is 6:00 PM–6:00 AM on a 2-2-3 cycle.

Qualifications

Associate degree in engineering technology, information systems, industrial automation and controls or related field; equivalent experience considered.
4+ years in industrial automation or controls in high-speed manufacturing (food & beverage, pharmaceutical, etc.).
Strong PLC troubleshooting and programming capabilities.
Experience with automated production, conveyor, and packaging equipment.
Knowledge of HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, instrumentation, industrial networks, and electrical controls.
Ability to diagnose complex controls problems and lead automation projects.
Ability to read electrical schematics, control drawings, and technical docs.
Excellent communication across plant departments, and ability to work on a 2-2-3 night shift.

Responsibilities

Serve as on-shift controls and automation expert.
Provide Tier 1 and 2 troubleshooting for automated production, processing, and packaging equipment.
Diagnose PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, instrumentation, and industrial-network issues.
Troubleshoot equipment failures and restore production safely and efficiently.
Identify recurring problems and implement corrective actions.
Develop and execute controls projects to improve safety, quality, reliability, and throughput.
Support high-speed beverage processing, filling, canning, conveying, and packaging systems.
Engage in Management of Change for controls and process modifications.
Mentor maintenance technicians and operators; provide leadership and training.
Maintain backups, drawings, and change records; support commissioning and upgrades.
