Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) leader for a single construction project in the Austin area. You will enforce safety programs, train staff and subcontractors, and guide project teams on environmental and hazardous materials reporting and conditions.

You will assess safety practices, mitigate risks, and promote adherence to EH&S policies while coordinating with project leadership to achieve zero citations and compliant operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related field with 4+ years of construction safety experience, or equivalent
• CHST certification required or within 2 years of appointment
• OSHA 30-hour training completed; First Aid/CPR/BBP/AED current
• Knowledge of Federal, State, and local EH&S regulations
• Ability to identify safety exposures and lead corrective actions
• Familiar with general construction operations
• Strong leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Highly organized with attention to detail
• Willingness to travel and access to reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• Lead EH&S on a single construction project, enforcing safety programs and policies
• Provide safety leadership and resource allocation for the project
• Assess safety practices, identify exposures, and implement action plans to mitigate risks
• Communicate safety requirements to project leadership and teams
• Develop site-specific safety training for management, employees, subcontractors, and Turner Trade employees
• Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with regulations and owner requirements
• Maintain relationships with project staff and subcontractor safety representatives
• Develop and enforce project safety program and related procedures
• Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with policies and regulations
• Hold preconstruction planning meetings to review site safety programs and risk mitigation
• Create and track corrective actions from safety audits and inspections
• Conduct worker orientation and document participation
• Collaborate on safety reports and metrics and recommend improvements
• Ensure documentation of toolbox safety meetings and safety training
