Job summary

Newmark’s Boston Back Bay properties seek a Chief Engineer to lead engineering operations, maintenance, and capital planning for a two-building complex. You will ensure reliability, safety, and energy efficiency while directing a hands-on engineering team and coordinating with property management and ownership.

You will translate ownership objectives into practical operating plans, manage contractors, and optimize budgets, with a focus on tenant comfort and asset protection.

Qualifications

• Ten+ years of building engineering or facilities operations experience.
• Experience leading an engineering team in large commercial buildings.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, BAS, and preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily engineering operations across two buildings with coordinated staffing and response.
• Oversee maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, BAS, and base-building systems.
• Coordinate with qualified service providers for elevators, fire and life safety systems, and other critical equipment.
• Establish procedures, logs, shutdown protocols, and escalation plans for operations.
• Lead the engineering team, recruit, onboard, and manage performance and development.
• Manage capital projects, contractor oversight, budgets, and project closeout.
