Job summary

River View Residential in Washington, DC seeks an Assistant Community Manager for Affordable Housing. This on-site role supports the Community Manager with occupancy, leasing, and compliance across one or more affordable/mixed-income communities.

The position covers leasing, resident relations, collections, marketing, outreach, administrative operations, and financial administration, with leadership duties when needed and a focus on regulatory deadlines and ongoing resident support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2–3 years of multifamily property management experience.
• Previous affordable housing experience required.
• Experience with LIHTC, HUD, HOME, Section 8, or other affordable housing programs.
• Strong leasing and customer service background.
• Experience with rent collections.
• Working knowledge of Fair Housing regulations and landlord-tenant laws.
• Proficiency in OneSite, Yardi, or other property management software.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines across one or more communities.

Responsibilities

• Meet occupancy and leasing goals through outstanding service.
• Assist with leasing operations, tours, and application processing.
• Coordinate certifications and regulatory compliance for affordable housing.
• Manage financial administration tasks including rent collections and delinquencies.
• Support resident relations and community engagement initiatives.
• Prepare operational reports and maintain accurate resident records.
• Oversee maintenance coordination and site operations.
• Supervise staff in the Community Manager's absence.
• Ensure marketing materials comply with Fair Housing rules.
