Job summary

Axiom Technologies is seeking an on-site Desktop Support Engineer to provide end-user IT support at client locations in Vandalia, Illinois. This contract-based, on-demand role requires hands-on technical ability with desktops, laptops, and peripherals, plus basic networking and strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting Windows systems, configuring hardware and software, and ensuring security policies are followed. Immediate start with no guaranteed hours.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and desktop environments.
• Experience in hardware troubleshooting and replacement.
• Basic understanding of networking (LAN connectivity, switches, routers).
• Ability to diagnose and resolve desktop, printer, and peripheral issues.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently in onsite support environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site desktop and IT support for end users at the client location.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Windows desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
• Install, configure, and maintain hardware, operating systems, and enterprise software applications.
• Support network connectivity issues, including LAN troubleshooting.
• Assist with device setup, replacement, and hardware installations.
• Perform basic network troubleshooting using console access when required.
• Document service activities and communicate updates to the service delivery team.
• Follow client IT policies and security procedures while performing onsite tasks.
