Job summary

WSP is seeking an On-call, Part-Time Field Archaeologist to support our Heritage and Cultural Resources Earth & Environment Team across offices in Jefferson City, Ballwin, Kansas City, and other locations in Missouri and Kentucky. The role involves Phase I/II fieldwork, site documentation, and teamwork in a fast‑paced project environment.

You will document findings, identify artifacts, and travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in anthropology, archaeology, historic preservation, or related field.
Archaeological field school.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Self-motivated and physically able to conduct fieldwork in all weather conditions.
Location preference: Missouri and surrounding states; occasional opportunities in other states.
Hourly on-call position with industry-competitive rates based on CRM experience.
Must uphold workplace safety and company policies.
Position requires 100% travel.

Responsibilities

Assist with field projects during Phase I and II testing through pedestrian reconnaissance, shovel tests, and test unit excavation.
Document findings with detailed notes, soil descriptions, and field forms.
Assist in artifact identification and documentation of archaeological deposits.
Work as part of a field team and follow safety policies.
Adhere to WSP Code of Conduct and company procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
