Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an on-call, part-time Field Archaeologist to support our Heritage and Cultural Resources Earth & Environment Team across Louisville, KY; Lexington, KY; and sites in MO. The role involves fieldwork during Phase I–II testing, documention, and artifact identification, with potential for long-term opportunities based on workload.

Candidates must have an undergraduate degree in anthropology/archaeology or related field, field school experience, and the ability to travel

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in anthropology, archaeology, historic preservation, or related field.
• Archaeological field school.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated and physically able to conduct fieldwork in all weather conditions.
• Must be willing to travel extensively to the southeast, Missouri, and surrounding states.

Responsibilities

• Assist field projects during all phases of archaeological testing (Phase I and II).
• Conduct pedestrian reconnaissance, shovel tests, and test unit excavation under supervision.
• Document findings with detailed notes and field forms.
• Identify artifacts and document archaeological deposits.
• Collaborate effectively as part of a field team.
• Follow company policies and safety procedures.
