Job summary

WSP is seeking an On-call, Part-Time Field Archaeologist to support projects across the Louisville, KY; Lexington, KY; Kansas City, MO; Ballwin, MO; and Jefferson City, MO offices. You will work with the Heritage and Cultural Resources Earth & Environment Team on a range of federal, state, and commercial sites.

Responsibilities include field testing, pedestrian surveys, and artifact documentation, with travel to project sites and collaboration within a team.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in anthropology, archaeology, historic preservation, or related field.
• Archaeological field school completed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated and physically able to conduct fieldwork in all weather conditions.
• Location in the southeast or Missouri and surrounding states preferred; other states possible.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field projects during all phases of archaeological testing (Phase I and II).
• Perform pedestrian reconnaissance, shovel tests, and test unit excavation under supervision.
• Document findings with detailed notes, soil descriptions, and field forms.
• Assist in artifact identification and deposit documentation.
• Work as part of a team and adhere to company policies and safety procedures.
