Job summary

Jacobs is seeking on-call archaeologists to support planning, engineering, and construction across Colorado, Wyoming and nearby states. The role involves NHPA, ARPA, NEPA, and NAGPRA compliance work under senior staff guidance.

Frequent travel and field/office independence are expected. The ideal candidate holds a BA in Anthropology/Archaeology/CRM with 3+ years field experience, GIS familiarity, and strong writing skills.

Qualifications

• At least a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology/Archaeology/CRM.
• Minimum of 3+ years of all phases of professional archaeological field work experience.
• Experience in construction monitoring and collaborating with tribal monitors.
• Knowledge of historic preservation laws and policies, including NEPA, NHPA, ARPA, and NAGPRA.
• Familiarity with state regulations and cultural resources policies for Colorado, Wyoming or adjacent states.
• Experience using GPS technology.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be capable of walking for long periods of time over unfamiliar terrain, excavating shovel tests and test units, screening soil, and carrying field equipment.
• Must be willing and able to travel frequently and for long periods of time, as needed.
• Must be motivated and able to work safely with minimum supervision.
• Experience and comfort in working independently in the field and office.

Responsibilities

• Provide cultural resources support for planning, engineering and construction services.
• Ensure compliance with NHPA, ARPA, NEPA and NAGPRA across projects.
• Work under supervision of senior cultural resources staff.
• Collaborate with tribal monitors and contractors when needed.
• Frequent travel to project sites across the western states.
