Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an on-call archaeologist to support a range of projects across Texas and the surrounding region. The role involves cultural resources support for planning, engineering, and construction services for renewable energy, government, and transportation clients.

You will work under senior staff and engage with NHPA, ARPA, NEPA, NAGPRA, and state regulations. The ideal candidate has a BA/BS in anthropology and field experience in Texas, with GIS and relational database familiarity.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, or closely related field.
2+ years of professional archaeological field experience in Texas.
Familiarity with Texas state regulations for cultural resources.
Proficiency in GPS, field documentation, and MS Office.
Ability to work independently in remote field conditions for 8–10 hours/day.
Ability to walk up to 8 miles/day while carrying 40 lb gear.

Responsibilities

Conduct archaeological survey and exploratory subsurface testing.
Conduct archaeological monitoring during ground-disturbing activities per mitigation plans.
Identify, document, and recover cultural resources in the field.
Maintain detailed field notes, site forms, and monitoring logs.
Coordinate with project managers, environmental teams, and construction personnel.
Ensure compliance with NHPA, ARPA, NAGPRA, Antiquities Code of Texas.
