Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an on-call archaeologist to support multiple Texas-area projects, focusing on NHPA/ARPA/NAGPRA compliance and field documentation. The role emphasizes travel across Texas and adjacent regions with a strong field component.

The successful candidate will have a BA/BS in anthropology or archaeology, 2+ years of Texas field experience, GIS and GPS proficiency, and the ability to work independently in remote conditions with long days.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in anthropology, archaeology, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of professional archaeological field experience in Texas.
• Familiarity with Texas regulations for cultural resources.
• Proficiency with GPS, field documentation, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Conduct archaeological survey and subsurface testing.
• Monitor archaeology during ground-disturbing activities per mitigation plans.
• Identify, document, and recover cultural resources in the field.
• Maintain field notes, site forms, and monitoring logs.
• Coordinate with project managers and environmental teams.
• Ensure compliance with NHPA, ARPA, NAGPRA, Antiquities Code of Texas.
