Job summary

WSP is expanding its emergency management recovery cadre and seeks on-call specialists to support disaster recovery operations nationwide. Roles require travel to client sites and deployment within 24-48 hours, with extended hours during assignments.

Eligible candidates should have a high school diploma, 7 years of experience with 1+ year in emergency management, and FEMA EMI PSD certification. Travel and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• 7 years of professional experience, including 1+ years in an Emergency Management role (Response, Recovery or related).
• Broad knowledge of Emergency Management principles, methods and techniques.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• FEMA Emergency Management Institute Independent Study - Professional Development Series certification.
• Travel Required - Must be able to travel to client sites as project warrants.

Responsibilities

• Support clients through all phases of disaster recovery, providing technical assistance and expertise to help them navigate funding, documentation, and rebuilding processes.
• Deploy to Emergency Operations Centers and/or Field Staging Areas before, during, and after disasters to support recovery operations on the ground.
• Perform a range of recovery functions including logistics, supply coordination, cost documentation, and resource management.
• Analyze and evaluate project applications, supporting documentation, and inspection reports for accuracy and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local recovery program requirements (including FEMA Public Assistance, HMGP, and HUD CDBG/CDBG-DR).
• Manage assigned recovery projects from initiation through closeout, ensuring quality, completeness, and on-time delivery.
• Utilize grant management and tracking systems to monitor client progress, documentation status, and funding milestones.
• Maintain working knowledge of procurement, contracting, and grant compliance requirements across various disaster recovery funding sources.
• Attend periodic training to stay current on recovery program policies and maintain deployment eligibility.
