Job summary

WSP USA is seeking on-call Emergency Managers to support disaster recovery operations nationwide, including deployments across the United States. These are not full-time roles and opportunities are project-dependent, with candidates required to travel on short notice.

You will lead recovery efforts on the ground, supervise staff, ensure compliance with FEMA and grant requirements, manage multiple projects, and serve as the primary point of contact for client leadership during deployments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years professional experience, including 1+ years in an Emergency Management role
• Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or related concentration
• Extensive knowledge of Emergency Management principles, methods and techniques
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• FEMA Emergency Management Institute Independent Study certification
• Travel required to client sites as project warrants
• Adherence to company policies and safety procedures

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee disaster recovery operations for assigned clients, directing teams through all phases of recovery
• Deploy to Emergency Operations Centers or Field Staging Areas to lead recovery operations and serve as primary client contact
• Supervise recovery staff across logistics, cost documentation, and resource management
• Oversee analysis of project applications, supporting documentation, and inspection reports for compliance
• Manage a portfolio of recovery projects from initiation through closeout
• Oversee grant management systems to monitor client progress and funding milestones
• Serve as subject matter expert on procurement, contracting, and grant compliance across disaster recovery funding sources
• Lead training and onboarding for recovery staff
• Build and maintain client relationships as trusted advisor throughout the recovery lifecycle
