Job summary

WSP in the U.S. is seeking On-Call Emergency Management Specialists, Recovery to support disaster recovery operations across the United States. Roles require travel with minimal notice and deployment to client sites nationwide, often on short notice and for extended periods.

This is not a full-time position; opportunities are project-dependent and candidates must be able to deploy to varied locations including multiple U.S. cities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• 7 years of professional experience, including 1+ years in an Emergency Management role.
• Broad knowledge of Emergency Management principles, methods and techniques.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• FEMA Emergency Management Institute Independent Study - Professional Development Series certification.
• Travel Required - Must be able to travel to client sites as project warrants.
• Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Responsibilities

• Support clients through disaster recovery funding, documentation, and rebuilding processes.
• Deploy to Emergency Operations Centers and/or Field Staging Areas before, during, and after disasters to support recovery operations on the ground.
• Perform a range of recovery functions including logistics, supply coordination, cost documentation, and resource management.
• Analyze and evaluate project applications, supporting documentation, and inspection reports for accuracy and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local recovery program requirements (including FEMA Public Assistance, HMGP, and HUD CDBG/CDBG-DR).
• Manage assigned recovery projects from initiation through closeout, ensuring quality, completeness, and on-time delivery.
• Utilize grant management and tracking systems to monitor client progress, documentation status, and funding milestones.
• Maintain working knowledge of procurement, contracting, and grant compliance requirements across various disaster recovery funding sources.
• Attend periodic training to stay current on recovery program policies and maintain deployment eligibility.
