Job summary

DESC in Seattle is seeking an On-Call Support Staff for the Crisis Solutions Center. The role supports a 24/7 crisis stabilization facility, providing a welcoming environment for adults in crisis and assisting with wellness checks, meals, and safety tasks.

The position requires flexibility for day, swing, and night shifts, with on-call availability and mandatory onboarding. Union representation is provided by SEIU Healthcare 1199NW.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of relevant paid work experience (internal applicants may substitute 6 months).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and with an interdisciplinary team.
• Interest in working with adults experiencing behavioral health crises and homelessness.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and security by monitoring cameras, answering calls, and performing 15-minute wellness checks.
• Respond to emergencies and contact emergency-response systems as needed.
• Maintain order and cleanliness of the work area and facilities.
• Remake beds and clean cubicles after client discharge.
• Carry out meal service and cleanup at designated stations.
• Document client interactions and shift occurrences as required.
• Engage in de-escalation, crisis intervention, and stabilization.
• Attend mandatory onboarding and training sessions.
• Follow DESC ethics policies in client-staff interactions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
