Job summary

Victorian Post Acute in San Francisco, CA is seeking an On-Call Cook to support our Dietary Services Department. The cook prepares and serves high-quality meals according to approved menus and therapeutic diets, while upholding food safety standards.

This on-call role provides coverage as needed. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, a California Food Handler Card, and at least one year of cooking experience, preferably in healthcare.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• California Food Handler Card is required.
• 1 year cooking experience preferred in healthcare or food service.
• Knowledge of food safety and dietary regulations is expected.
• Ability to follow recipes, menus and dietary guidelines accurately.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to established menus and therapeutic diets.
• Cook in large quantities while maintaining quality and presentation.
• Prepare modified textures and diets as needed.
• Follow portion control and ensure appealing plating.
• Monitor food temperatures for safety compliance.
• Assist with meal service for all meals and maintain kitchen cleanliness.
• Support training for new dietary staff and collaborate with nursing teams.
