Job summary

HealthRIGHT 360 seeks an On-Call Cook at North County Serenity House Residential to prepare nutritious meals, follow menus, and support recovery through food service.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, food safety certification, a California driver’s license, and flexible shifts. FIFO experience and kitchen work are preferred. This is a union-eligible, on-call position fostering teamwork within a trauma-informed setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• A culinary degree from a recognized culinary institution is preferred.
• Current certification in food safety and sanitation.
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within the specified timeframe.
• Valid California driver's license and access to registered and insured transportation.
• Experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in various culinary roles.
• Experience with FIFO method.

Responsibilities

• Meal Preparation and Nutrition: Ensure meals are well-balanced, nutritious, and appealing; follow the production menu.
• Cost Management and Resource Utilization: Reduce unnecessary costs; utilize donations; order within budget.
• Transportation and Logistics: Drive Food Services van; manage storage and inventory; suggest efficiency improvements.
• Safety and Compliance: Maintain safety and sanitation per codes; ensure equipment servicing.
• Training and Client Interaction: Train and evaluate kitchen clients; enforce safety policies.
• Teamwork and Admin duties: Maintain team morale; attend meetings; complete trainings; read emails.
