Job summary

Avanath Capital in Oakland, CA is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain the property, keep systems running smoothly and preserve curb appeal while delivering outstanding resident service. You will manage work orders, perform preventative maintenance, handle make-ready tasks for new move-ins, maintain grounds and common areas, and stay on-call for emergencies.

You will follow safety policies, operate within regulatory standards, and collaborate with teams to ensure a quality living

Qualifications

• 2 years of multifamily maintenance experience is highly desired.
• Hands-on maintenance skills including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, appliances, pools.
• EPA Type II or Universal certification is highly desired; CPO is a plus.
• Availability to be on-call to address emergencies.
• Reliable Transportation.
• A positive attitude and the desire to learn and develop your skills.
• Superior customer service and verbal communication skills.
• Able to work both independently and as a member of a team.
• Basic computer knowledge, Windows (Word, Excel), internet, and e-mail.

Responsibilities

• Provides exceptional customer service with every interaction and delivers high‑quality maintenance service.
• Complete assigned work orders from resident requests and preventative maintenance per safety standards and codes.
• Completes the make-ready process for vacant apartments for leasing and move-ins.
• Assists in maintaining grounds, common areas, and amenities.
• Supports cost-control by repairing rather than replacing parts when possible and tracks inventory.
• Follows procedures for obtaining materials and notifies about re-ordering needs.
• Follows safety policies, OSHA training, and regulatory requirements.
