Job summary

BKF is hiring an on-site Construction Inspector to perform onsite inspections ensuring compliance with contract requirements and permits. The role requires college degree or 5+ years in transportation or civil projects, plus 4+ years in supervision or inspection and a valid CA driver’s license.

Responsibilities include reporting on projects, advising engineers, sampling materials, checking utilities, traffic control, earthwork grading, concrete placement, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• College degree or minimum 5 years’ work experience with Transportation or Civil related projects.
• 4+ years of experience in the supervision or inspection of engineering construction work including reading and interpreting complex construction plans and specifications.
• Valid California Class C driver’s license and an acceptable driver’s record are required.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and reports on a variety of construction projects.
• Advises Resident Engineer or Agency Project Manager and informs contractors of any variances from approved plans and specifications.
• Takes samples of materials, prepares test specimens, and assists in conducting field tests, or refers samples for laboratory analysis.
• Checks location of public utilities to avoid interference with construction work.
• Reviews contractor’s traffic control plans and field traffic control; review project safety.
• Inspects earthwork grading, placement of asphalt concrete, proportions, and control of mixes.
• Inspects delivery, placing, and curing of concrete and the placing of reinforcing steel.
• Maintains material and inspection records.
