Job summary
BKF Engineers is seeking an on-call Construction Inspector to perform onsite inspections ensuring compliance with contract requirements and permits. The role involves inspecting projects, advising on variances, collecting samples, and supporting field tests.
Requires a college degree or 5+ years in Transportation/Civil projects, plus 4+ years inspecting engineering construction work and a valid CA driver’s license. Certifications beneficial include CPII and ICC/ACI credentials.
Qualifications
- College degree or 5+ years of work experience in Transportation or Civil projects.
- 4+ years of supervision or inspection experience on engineering construction projects.
- Valid California Class C driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and report on a variety of construction projects.
- Advise Resident Engineer or Agency Project Manager on variances from plans.
- Take samples, prepare test specimens, and assist in field tests.
- Check utilities location to avoid interference with construction work.
- Review traffic control plans and project safety.
- Inspect earthwork, asphalt, concrete, and reinforcing steel placement.
- Assist in review of submittals, RFIs, CCOs, and certificates of compliance.
- Maintain inspection records, diaries, and photo logs.
