Job summary

BKF is seeking an ON CALL Construction Inspector to perform on-site inspections and ensure compliance with contract requirements and permits. Responsibilities include reporting on projects, advising engineers, sample testing, utility coordination, and safety reviews.

Requirements include a college degree or 5+ years in civil/transportation projects, plus 4+ years in inspection. A California driver’s license is required. Benefits include paid holidays and PTO.

Qualifications

• College degree or minimum 5 years’ work experience with Transportation or Civil related projects.
• 4+ years of experience in supervision or inspection of engineering construction work including reading and interpreting complex construction plans and specifications.
• Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driver’s record.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and reports on a variety of construction projects.
• Advises Resident Engineer or Agency Project Manager and informs contractors of variances from approved plans and specifications.
• Takes samples of materials, prepares test specimens, and assists in conducting field tests or refers samples for lab analysis.
• Checks the location of public utilities to avoid interference with construction work.
• Reviews contractor’s traffic control plans and field traffic control; reviews project safety.
• Assists PM in review of project submittals, RFIs, CCOs; maintains records and diaries.
