Job summary

BKF is seeking an on-call Construction Inspector to perform on-site inspections ensuring compliance with contract requirements and permits. Strong reading of plans, coordination of field tests, and clear communication of variances to engineers and contractors are essential.

Requirements include a college degree or 5+ years in Civil/Transportation projects, a California driver license, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
• 5+ years of field inspection or supervision experience on Transportation/Civil projects.
• Valid California driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and reports on a variety of construction projects.
• Advises Resident Engineer or Agency Project Manager and informs contractors of variances.
• Takes samples, prepares test specimens, and assists in field tests.
• Checks location of public utilities to avoid interference with work.
• Reviews traffic control plans and project safety.
• Inspects earthwork, asphalt, concrete placement, and reinforcing steel.
• Maintains inspection records and daily diaries.
